EUR 5 million total investment: Logistics company Kwizda Pharmadistribution expands its location in Leopoldsdorf near Vienna to 17,000 pallet slots

Kwizda Pharmadistribution, a leading pharmaceutical logistics company in Austria, has expanded its location in Leopoldsdorf in the south of Vienna. The investment totals EUR 5 million and is financed with Raiffeisen-Leasing.

The first modern pharmaceutical service center in Austria began operations with over 10,000 pallet locations in 2010, with the property becoming already too small for the growing family company now. Newly won major customers from the pharmaceutical industry, such as Pfizer, Sanofi and Takeda, brought the site to its capacity limits. Therefore, now the company is extending the property by adding 5,000 m² with 7,000 pallet spaces.

„Our pharmaceutical distribution center offers high quality and efficient handling of pharmaceutical and health products to our customers and convinces more and more large top pharmaceutical companies. Expanding the capacity of our service center we are prepared for the logistical challenges of the future, such as shorter order cycles and interface integration of the IT systems of pharmaceutical companies and logistics service providers,“ says DI Albert Dlaska, Managing Director of Kwizda Pharmadistribution GmbH.

The pharmaceutical distribution center of Kwizda enables one of the few logistics centers in Austria to offer continuous temperature-controlled handling of medicines both in the temperature range of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius as well as 2-8 degrees Celsius, from delivery to the loading bay. On the 50,000 m² area, the company offers currently 17,000 pallet spaces. The building layout is designed for a maximum capacity expansion to 23,000 pallet spaces.

Kwizda Pharmadistribution provides logistics services for the national and international pharmaceutical industry and as a precursor for pharmaceutical wholesaling provides a significant contribution to security of supply of medicinal products in Austria. In 2013 they recorded a turnover of around EUR 130 million.
