Expanded LTL network with STI Freight Management Hungary

Subsidiary of the lead logistics provider Havi Global Logistics satisfies the hunger of the penguins in Budapest’s zoo

STI Freight Management has successfully completed an extraordinary transport project: The STI branch in Hungary has delivered 2.5 tonnes of deep frozen herring from the Baltic Sea to the zoo in Budapest on behalf of the wholesaler Ba-Ha-Mas Ltd.

The way of the delivery had started at the loading station in Riga, Latvia. From there the STI multi temperature truck started its tour to the cross docking station of the parent company Havi Logistics in Warsaw, Poland, and finally to the customer in Budapest. It took STI three days to cover the 1,500 kilometres distance.

To keep costs as low as possible, the freight has been delivered completely as LTL transportation (LTL). „In these cases most logistics service providers offer only complete transport. Our Europe-wide LTL network allowed for a smooth and above all fast transport of the

temperature- sensitive goods,“ explains Peter Csipes, Business Development Manager at STI Hungary.

A four-member international team with representatives of STI from Poland, Hungary and Latvia was involved transnationally. And also the end user – the penguins in the Budapest Zoo – are pleased with this service.

STI continues to expand its LTL network: Weekly LTL services start from Belgium, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands to Hungary.

Customers can have shipped goods of all temperature levels flexibly and cost effectively.

Since 1983 STI Freight Management GmbH with headquarters in Duisburg is specialised in the design and management of complex transport and logistics projects. The subsidiary of the lead logistics provider Havi Global Logistics employs 221 people at 13 locations, organising the approximately 244,000 domestic and international land transport, 9,800 air and sea freight transportations, as well as 26,300 customs clearances per year.
