Expanded quay facility at the Ennshafen port in Lower Austria

Danube port Enns/Ennsdorf upgraded through expansion of the quay wall by 75 metres

With immediate effect the Danube port Enns/Ennsdorf offers enhanced opportunities for the transhipment of goods on the waterway. As an action to further increase transhipment performance the Kai 1 quay facility (operated by Fuchshuber Agrarhandel) on the Lower Austrian section was expanded by 75 metres to a total length of about 300 metres in the past months. In addition the existing part of the quay facility was renovated, and a second rail siding was added to adapt the transhipment area.

The investment to expand the quay totals EUR 2.5 million and was supported by Land Niederösterreich through means from the ecoplus regional funding including co-financing means from the European Union. The facility was inaugurated on 27 November in the presence of Michaela Hinterholzer, member of the state parliament.

Per year about 600,000 tonnes of cargo are transhipped on the waterway in Ennshafen port. Through its expanded quay the trimodal business park „ecoplus Wirtschaftspark Ennsdorf“ provides shipping enterprises a fast and efficient access to the Danube waterway.
