Fercam Group launches express courier service throughout Italy
FEX (Fercam Express Delivery) to handle about 10,000 daily shipments of up to 500 kilograms in the initial stage
The Fercam Group headquartered in Bolzano is launching a new express courier service in September 2012. The subsidiary FEX (Fercam Express Delivery) and 50 franchisees offer a nation-wide express courier service with 24hours runtime in Italy. The new system is based on a network of 90 distribution centres, which are directly operated by franchise partners and autonomous companies with specific know-how, and partly by Fercam locations.
The FEX platforms are linked to each other by over night liner services, which guarantees a 24-hours express service. During the initial stage the management expects 10,000 shipments per day. By the end of 2013 this figure shall triple and annual turnover of more than EUR 100 million shall be generated.
FEX will start operating the national express courier service in Italy. More products such as Next Day (delivery on the next day at 12 or 10 am), Fix Time, Evening and additional services for e-commerce shall follow shortly. FEX concentrates on business-to-business and business-to-consumer for single and multi-coli shipments of up to 500 kilograms.
The continuous growth of the courier and express service market in Italy was decisive for the establishment of Fercam Express Delivery. “The latest market data, published twice per year by CONFETRA (state association of transport and logistics companies), confirm a general decline in the transport industry in the first half of the year 2012, whereas the express and courier industry continues to develop positively“, explains FEX managing director Marcello Corazzola. “Thus we decided to complete the service portfolio of Fercam AG by establishing an express courier network within the franchise system and boost the establishment of FEX.“
