DB Schenker’s new logistics hub in Brno connects road and rail transport

DB Schenker started operating a new logistics centre in the Czech industrial city Brno. The 8,000 sq. m. terminal connects road and rail transport. It consists of a 6,300 sq. m. hall, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and a zone with 1,700 sq. m. throughput area. Moreover the facility in Brno-Slatina has its own rail branch with a 85 metres long, roofed ramp.

“With this logistics centre we offer our customers the combination of road and rail from one source also in the Czech Republic, Karl Nutzinger, CEO Europe of Schenker AG, explains the step of constructing this, first DB Schenker Railport. The facility joins the services the Czech organisation Schenker spol. s r.o. was providing so far at four different locations in Brno under one roof. The only exception is the fair forwarding unit, which remains at fair area.
