Fresh breeze for partnership between Röhlig and Gebrüder Weiss

Realocation of global interests in the joint companies with Röhlig Logistics and Gebrüder Weiss

The two logistics companies Röhlig and Gebrüder Weiss have rearranged the shareholder structure within their Weiss-Röhlig joint venture companies. Röhlig has completely taken over the joint ventures in Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and India. At the same time Gebrüder Weiss has increased its shares in China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Canada and the United Arab Emirates to 100 per cent. Weiss-Röhlig USA will remain an equally held joint venture, with each party holding 50 per cent of the shares. Regardless of the change of ownership, the name Weiss-Röhlig will stay in the market as all previous joint ventures will continue to operate under the name Weiss-Röhlig.

„We have restructured our alliance. By doing so we have not only tightened our international cooperation with Gebrüder Weiss, but also ensured that each partner has full management control over its subsidiaries. As a result, the organisation now corresponds to the market needs and the individual requirements of both partners“, states Thomas W. Herwig, Managing Partner of Röhlig.

Heinz Senger-Weiss, Member of the Gebrüder Weiss Management Board: “For our clients, partners and staff there will not be any changes. We are continuing our successful cooperation as before and are offering the full portfolio of the established Weiss-Röhlig services.” The cooperation between Röhlig and Gebrüder Weiss has been in existence since 1999.

Röhlig Logistics offers its customers services in the following segments: sea freight, air freight, project logistics and supply chain management. The family enterprise was established in 1852 in Bremen, Germany. Today the network covers more than 2,000 employees in over 30 countries.

Gebrüder Weiss has about 6,000 employees, 162 company-own locations and annual turnover of EUR 1.15 billion (2012), making it a leading transport and logistics provider in Europe.
