Gefco Group establishes national branch in Algeria

Gefco Group: New national branch in Algeria to offer transport and logistics services according to international service standards

The Gefco Group, European market leader in automotive logistics and a globally leading industrial logistics company, is expanding its network in North Africa by establishing a national branch in Algeria. The Algerian branch will assume new cars distribution on behalf of PSA Peugeot Citroën – about 105,000 units in 2014 – to retailers.

Gefco Algeria will also coordinate overseas container transportations on behalf of industrial customers from the Algerian mainland to the Mediterranean states and to China. The branch offers optimisation solutions and customs handling, to better control the parameters of costs, quality and transport times. The management board of the Algerian branch lies in the hands of Bertrand de Techtermann.

„In Algeria we offer logistics services with high added value, in line with international standards of the group. Our strong international network enables the customers to better organise their local and international transport flows to and in the region of the Maghreb,“ says Jean-Paul Ornano, Managing Director of Gefco Morocco and head of the Maghreb region of Gefco Group.

With the national branch in Algeria, one of the largest industrial nations on the African continent with an estimated growth of 5.5 per cent in 2015 (source: International Monetary Fund – 2014 Report), Gefco drives the development in this emerging region. With more than 38 million inhabitants, of whom 45 per cent are under 25 years old, Algeria is a dynamic country that also has rich mineral resources, particularly oil and natural gas. Its oil reserves are ranked 15th worldwide.
