Gefco records strong growth in CEE

 
Sales revenue of Gefco Group declined in 2008

At the Gefco Group the financial year 2008 was characterised by the increase in fuel prices between January and July and the collapse of the automotive market in the fourth quarter of the year. Compared to last year turnover showed a 0.5%-decline to EUR 3.537 billion. The consolidated operational result amounted to EUR 127 million, which was 3.6 per cent of the sales revenue (4.4 per cent in 2007).

In the reference period Gefco grew 5 per cent in the overseas and logistics divisions. Logistics services for the PSA group generated a turnover of EUR 2.171 billion. Group-external logistics services amounted to EUR 1.271 billion.

Concerned from a regional point of view the Paris-based group recorded the strongest growth rates in Central and Eastern Europe. This is made visible by the growth in sales revenues by 32 per cent to EUR 344 million. In the Mercosur, Gefco improved by 28 per cent to EUR 178 million. The following segments were growth areas in both regions: automobile manufacturing, motorbikes, motor vehicle equipment, special transportations and electronics. Gefco Group employs around 10,000 persons at 400 locations in more than 100 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Acting as a specialist for holistic industrial logistics, the company is offering services in the fields of overland, overseas, logistics, vehicle distribution and Gefbox-system.
