Glencore establishes joint venture in the south Russian port of Taman

Grain terminal in the south Russian deep water port Taman to be integrated into the logistics network of the raw material trading company Glencore

Glencore, a globally acting raw material trading company, added a new location to its logistics network. Via the subsidiary Renaisco BV, the enterprise based in Baar (Switzerland) together with the Ukrainian Kernel Holding, acquired all shares of the deep water grain terminal in the south Russian Black Sea port Taman. The purchase price was USD 265 million. Glencore and Kernel are each holding 50 per cent of the joint venture that operates the port facility.

The grain terminal in the deep water port Taman has an annual capacity to handle 3 million tonnes of goods. The location offers good conditions for the exportation of grain products from the centres of south Russia’s agricultural industry. Glencore and Kernel want to use this port area mainly for exportations to Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
