Goods traffic in Romanian maritime ports develops positively

Total traffic of goods increased by 10 per cent in 2012; river traffic through the Romanian maritime ports is on the advance
 
In 2012 the traffic of goods through the Romanian maritime ports increased by about 10 per cent. The volume registered last year amounted to 50,584,662 tonnes, as compared to 45,972,095 tonnes in 2011. During the reporting period the maritime traffic registered 38,854,222 tonnes (compared to 37,224,663 tonnes in 2011), and the river traffic reached 11,730,440 tonnes (compared to 8,747,432 tonnes in 2011), informs Mr. Alexandru Capatu, managing director of the forwarding company Navromsa AG based in the Viennese port Freudenau and operating an office in Basel.
 
The following cargo types registered traffic increases: cereals, oil products, coal and coke, iron ores, scrap, non-ferrous ores and scrap, miscellaneous, raw or processed minerals, machines, transport equipments, cement, lime, prefabricated materials for constructions and fertilizers. Traffic decreases were registered for: crude oil, chemical products, metal products, food stuff, wood and cork as well as for oil seeds. Container traffic in the Romanian maritime ports registered in 2012 amounted to 6,680,107 tonnes, or 684,059 TEU, as compared to 2011 when there were registered 6,517,667 tonnes, or 662,796 TEU. In comparison with 2011, the increase was of 2,5% in tonnes and 3,21% in TEU, respectively.
