Hamburg Süd consolidates Mediterranean presence

 
Hamburg Süd establishes own agencies in southern Italy and in Egypt

With the establishment of agencies in southern Italy and Egypt the Hamburg Süd shipping company consolidates its presence in the Mediterranean area by January 1st, 2009. At the same time new conditions are created for the attendance to local markets.

The Hamburg Süd Agency South Italy (HSASI) is a joint venture of the Hamburg Süd shipping company and the Gallozzi Group. The head office of the agency will be situated in Salerno. While the HSASI-activities will be launched the former Costa Container Lines-agency Costamar and the former Hamburg Süd-agency Joint Maritime Agencies will cease their services for the shipping company in southern Italy.

The new agency in Egypt will act under the name Hamburg Süd Maritime Agencies Egypt. This is a joint venture of Hamburg Süd, Tabadol and Mesco with its head office located in Alexandria. The partners have been collaborating since several years, as Tabadol and Mesco are acting as agencies for Hamburg Süd and Costa Container Lines.
