Hamburg Süd increases freight rates

 
Hamburg Süd will increase rates in westbound transatlantic services 

The German shipping line Hamburg Süd will shortly increase freight rates on transatlantic routes. As of April 10, 2009 the price for westbound shipments of 20’-containers will be raised by USD 160. Freight rates for 40’-containers will be raised by USD 200 per unit.

The freight rates on transatlantic routes have reached a level that no longer covers costs. According to a statement of the Hamburg Süd headquarters the adjustment of its rates in the westbound transatlantic services are the basis to maintain the high level of reliability and efficiency.
