Hapag-Lloyd: New services in the Adriatic and the Baltic Sea

Container shipping line Hapag-Lloyd is to operate weekly departures in its Adria Express Service and Russia Express Service from the start of May

From the beginning of May the Hamburg-based container line Hapag-Lloyd will be starting new liner services named Adria Express Service (ADX) and Russia Express Service (REX), offering short transit times and feeder options to the worldwide service network.

The Adriatic Express Service (ADX) will be offering a connection between the northern Adriatic ports and Port Said and Damietta, Egypt. Two 1,200 TEU ships equipped with reefer plugs cover the following port rotation: Damietta, Port Said, Koper, Rijeka, Venice, Ancona and back to Damietta. The transit time from Port Said to Koper is four days and to Venice six days.

The Russia Express Service (REX) links Hamburg, Bremerhaven, St. Petersburg, Helsinki and Gdynia in a weekly frequency. The two vessels used on REX each have a capacity of 1,400 TEU and meet the highest standard ice-class, as the company announces.

In 2011, Hapag-Lloyd transported more than 5.2 million TEU and generated revenue of around EUR 6.1 billion. The Company has around 6,900 employees at 300 sites in 114 countries. It operates more than 84 of its own liner services and has an extensive feeder network, linking over 430 ports around the world.
