HHLA and PKP Cargo are examining construction of joint terminals

The Polish transport group PKP CARGO S.A. and the port logistics enterprise Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) have agreed to further intensify their cooperation in the field of intermodal services. The Executive Boards of the two companies are now examining the construction of joint cargo handling terminals for combined transport in Europe. The terminals are targeted to optimise goods transportations from Hamburg to Central Europe. The core interests are initiatives to organise rail connections between the Port of Hamburg and the economic centres of Poland more effectively and more quickly. Specialists from both enterprises are making firm proposals for investments and targeted acquisitions.

Through their Polzug affiliate, PKP CARGO S.A. and HHLA have been jointly organizing rail traffic between German and Dutch seaports as well as to Poland, Russia and Ukraine since 1992. Being the market leader, the joint enterprise is running its own inland terminals at the Polish locations of Gadki, Pruszkow, Slawkow and Wroclaw. The just launched initiative aims to further enhance service quality, increase customer satisfaction and create competitive advantages.
