Hungarian CEP service provider GTR is now part of DPD’s network

Parcel and express service provider DPD consolidates its market position in Hungary and Eastern Europe by taking over GTR Logistics Kft.
 
Taking over 100 per cent of the GTR Logistics Kft., the parcel and express service provider DPD consolidates its market position in Hungary. The GTR company has been operating in the Hungarian CEP market for 15 years, and was now sold after successful restructuring by the financial investor Central Fund Kockázati Tőkealap-kezelő Zrt..
 
The takeover under the lead of majority shareholder of DPD, GeoPost, is one of the biggest investments of an international parcel and express service provider in Hungary: “The takeover of GTR shows that DPD and GeoPost believe in the future and growth opportunities in the Hungarian CEP market. DPD will mark the Hungarian market by international growth, innovative services and product innovations“, says Arnold Schroven, CEO DPD.
 
Through the acquisition of GTR the network of DPD Hungary is expanded by 10 locations to a total of 28 sites. In future more than 500 employees and drivers will guarantee fast and efficient national parcel delivery with more than 300 vehicles. DPD is currently transporting about 2.7 million parcels per year in Hungary. The GTR brand will be maintained until further notice, the management of the company will be assumed by DPD effective now. “We think the takeover of GTR is an excellent investment, providing a large number of advantages to us, enabling us to improve our market position in Hungary. Enlarging our fleet of delivery vehicles and expanding our network, we will further improve the quality of our delivery network“, says Csilla Hosszú, Managing Director DPD Hungary.
 
With this investment in Hungary DPD consolidates its market position in Eastern Europe. In Lithuania and Latvia the enterprise has the position of the market leader, in Poland and Estonia they are the second largest parcel service provider in the country. Also in Russia and the Czech Republic DPD has leading market positions.
