Liquid gas expert Imperial Gas Barging adds two new gas tankers to its fleet

Imperial Gas Barging (Hamburg), a subsidiary of the Imperial Shipping Group (Duisburg), has officially put into operation the two vessels identical in construction „Imperial Gas 90“ and „Imperial Gas 91“ in early February. More than 100 guests attended the christening ceremony at the Schifferbörse berth in Duisburg-Ruhrort. Cordula Eberhard and Leah Gcabashe, were the godmothers of the two tanker vessels Imperial 90 and Imperial 91, respectively.

As a partner for customers in the chemical and petrochemical industry, Imperial Gas Barging has specialised in the transport of gas products. Therefore, the two new ships are designed for the transport of the full range of gas products – including also ammonia or propylene oxide in addition to LPG. The fleet now consists of a total of 17 ships, which makes the company the second largest in Europe in the segment of liquid gas transportat on inland waterways, according to their own account.

The two new vessels have a 110 meters long and 11.45 meters wide hull. The gas tankers are channel-consistent and can be used in the Rhine catchment area with all its tributaries.
