Inland Port Coevorden-Emlichheim ready to start

New throughput terminal for river shipping in the Netherlands

A new station for river shipping named Inland Port Coevorden-Emlichheim will start operating on 1 January 2010 in the Netherlands. This project is a joint initiative of Euroterminal Coevorden, Nijhof-Wassink and Holland Cranes. The management of the operative business lies in the hands of representatives of the transport logistics enterprise Nijhof-Wassink. The location in Coevorden generated considerable growth in road/rail container throughput in the past years. Thanks to the opening of the port the area becomes now a trimodal traffic junction. The Coevorden-Almelo canal is available to inland vessels of 20 TEU and to push tows with a capacity of 39 TEU. Expansion measures are on the schedule until 2014 to improve this offer.
