Jade Cargo stays on ground longer than scheduled

Resumption of international flight operations with Jade Cargo International is delayed:

The suspension of Jade Cargo International’s flight operations is to be prolonged. Due to ongoing discussions concerning the financial restructuring of the enterprise, the airline’s freighters will not restart effective 16 January, 2012 as planned. In a press release the management confirmed its interest to quickly return to the market segment of worldwide air freight liner services. The new date for the recommencement of services will be announced as soon as possible, the letter says.

The Jade Cargo brand stands for a Chinese-German joint enterprise. The airline was formed in 2004 by Shenzhen Airlines (51%), Lufthansa Cargo (25%) and DEG Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft. The fleet comprises six freighters, type Boeing 747-400F, which are normally serving the following destinations in Europe: Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Luxemburg, Milan and Kaunas.

Meanwhile Shenzhen Airlines was taken over by Air China, which runs its own significant air cargo business and tight relations to Cathay Paxific Airways. However, this might as well be a reason for Jade Cargo’s difficult situation.
