Joint Venture CIT starts container trucking in Munich

HHLA group and EKB formed joint venture CIT to expand their German hinterland network for trucking services:

Container Inland Trucking (CIT), the joint venture established by the HHLA subsidiary CTD and EKB Container Logistik, has opened a base in Greater Munich. The 15,000 m² site in Parsdorf is just two motorway junctions away from the Munich-Riem trans-shipment station and operates more than ten trucks. “The Munich area is a growth region which plays a central role in HHLA’s hinterland network. Expanding CIT enables us to offer all rail and inland shipping operators – plus shipping companies, shipping agents and end customers – a comprehensive inland delivery network,” explained CTD’s Managing Director, Marcus Bönning.

In 2010, the Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) subsidiary CTD joined forces with EKB Container Logistik, a Bremen-based transport company, and founded a joint venture to offer truck delivery services at key German sites. The joint venture, Container Inland Trucking (CIT), organises regional forwarding of containers which arrive at the Northern European sea ports’ hinterland terminals by rail or inland waterways. CIT currently operates five bases in Germany: in Berlin, Leipzig, Mannheim, Risa and Stuttgart.
