Joint venture formed by BLG and ViDi in Ukraine

BLG Logistics Group acquires holding in Ukrainian ViDi Group

In the course of their international expansion the BLG Logistics Group in Bremen and the Ukrainian ViDi Group formed the new joint venture named BLG ViDi LOGISTICS at the beginning of October. In addition 50 per cent of the shares of the automotive logistics unit of the ViDi Group have been transferred to the BLG Group. “Our cooperation with the ViDi Group, the biggest Ukrainian automotive logistician, is a milestone of our eastern Europe strategy“, the BLG Management announced in a press release.

The core business of the ViDi Group comprises terminal and customs services, forwarding services (truck and rail) as well as technical services (PDI). Regular customers of the group are e.g. Toyota, Lexus, VW, BMW, Fiat, Daewoo, Ford, Subaru and Lada.

The competences of the ViDi Group are to be joined with the ones of BLG in the future. Both parties expect this step to expand the market leadership in the Ukrainian automotive logistics sector.

BLG had already formed a joint venture in Ukraine with E.H. Harms Automobile Logistics Ukraine. The services of this venture are to be integrated into the portfolio of BLG ViDi Logistics. Another component of the joint venture is a new automotive terminal in Kalinovka near Kiev, situated directly at the motorway towards Odessa. The 31.8 hectares-area offers space for 15,000 vehicles. The step-by-step expansion of the terminal shall increase its annual throughput capacity to 300,000 vehicles. It is also planned to equip the terminal with a rail connection and to construct a technical centre.
