Jubilee: 100th Airbus A380 for Emirates

Emirates, the world’s largest A380 operator, received its 100th A380 aircraft on 3rd November. The airline has 1,500 flight deck crew and over 23,000 cabin crew specially trained to operate this type of aircraft. Emirates currently uses A380 aircraft to call 48 destinations in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and America.

Together with invitees, business partners and media representatives, Emirates celebrated the milestone delivery at a special ceremony with Airbus at the manufacturer’s delivery centre in Hamburg. Adding to the celebrations, a special tribute to the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding father of the United Arab Emirates, was unveiled on the livery of the 100th A380.

“There is no doubt that the A380 has a big positive impact on aerospace manufacturing and the broader aviation industry,” highlights Emirates Chairman Sheikh Ahmed. Powered by Rolls-Royce engines, Emirates’ 100th A380 is configured in three cabin classes, and the revamped Onboard Lounge, which will be available on the scheduled flight to Mauritius on 18th November for the first time. Today, the flagship aircraft reaches all ends of the globe with non-stop flights for example to Sao Paulo, Casablanca, Vienna, Copenhagen, Tokyo and Los Angeles from Dubai.

In its 2016/17 financial year, the airline received 19 new A380 aircraft. In 2016, Airbus generated revenues of EUR 67 billion and employed a workforce of around 134,000.
