KLG Europe opens mega logistics centre in Bucharest

Logistics service provider KLG Europe finalises investment program at the amount of EUR 25 million in Romania

 

KLG Europe headquartered in Venlo (Netherlands) has finalised the biggest single investment of the recent history in October 2010. The 3PL enterprise has invested more than EUR 25 million into the Romanian logistics centre Rynart, which is situated directly at the motorway linking Bucharest and Pitesti.

On the 12.5 hectares area a 21,000 sq. m. warehouse in mezzanine construction was built. Moreover the logistics centre includes 2,000 sq. m. office area. In addition a 5.6 hectares neighbouring property was acquired in reserve. KLG Europe invested also into the technological equipment of the logistics centre, IT infrastructure and into transport vehicles. “These investments strengthen our position in Romania“, explains Dragos Geletu, Managing Director of KLG Europe Logistics S.R.L. “The money is well invested. Romania is a business location with a promising future, in which we believe“, he says calmingly.

Apart from the logistics centre in Bucharest KLG Europe operates another five locations in Constanta, Craiova, Cluj Napoca, Timisoara and Tirgu Secuiesc, which are approached daily from Bucharest. The sites are connected by their own area-covering transport network. Transport times for general cargo within Romania range from twelve hours for the region surrounding Bucharest and Temeswar to 48 hours for the rest of the country. In addition to national and international general cargo distribution also air and sea freight, warehousing business and supply chain optimisation are contained in the service portfolio of the Romanian KLG subsidiary. Since April 2010 the company is an associated Romanian partner of the general cargo cooperative 24plus logistics network.

KLG Europe has around 600 employees at eleven locations in four countries (Netherlands, Great Britain, Romania, China) and posted a turnover of EUR 67 million in 2009. Established in 1918 the family enterprise is active in the following fields: Road Freight, Air Freight, Sea/Ocean Freight, Groupage, Logistics, Logistics Engineering and Customs Service. The circle of regular customers includes the companies 3M, adidas, Albert Heijn, Akzo Nobel, Domo, LG Electronics, Philips, Timken and Wrigley.
