Lineas integrates the port of Zeebrugge to its Green-Xpress-Netzwerk

Since the beginning of December, the private rail operator Lineas provides daily rail links between 3 terminals in the Port of Zeebrugge and the European Green Xpress Network. This optimized Zeebrugge rail link enables the port and Lineas to work together towards the further implementation of modal shift to rail.

Thanks to these new connections, Zeebrugge is now linked with Switzerland (Basel), Austria (Vienna, Graz/Wels), Slovakia (Bratislava), Germany (Köln, Ludwigshafen/Mannheim), Italy (Milano), Spain (Madrid, Tarragona, Hendaye, Granollers), Czech Republic (Lovosice), Sweden (Malmö) and the ports of Rotterdam and Le Havre.

Joachim Coens, CEO Port of Zeebrugge/MBZ nv: “For the Seaport of Bruges, this rail link means strengthening our intermodal offers deep into Europe.”

Sam Bruynseels, Managing Director, Lineas Intermodal: “The new link addresses the demand from many customers and the port. We hope that with this offer we can convince Zeebrugge logistics service providers who do not yet use rail.” Lineas continues to focus on the further expansion of the Green Xpress Network. A number of new European destinations will be introduced at the beginning of next year
