Logistics group KLG Europe now also „online“ in Turkey
New KLG Europe location in Istanbul relies on alliances with Turkish partners in its operative business
KLG Europe with its headquarters in the Dutch Venlo has founded the subsidiary KLG Lojistik in Istanbul. For the European-wide active logistics enterprise Turkey is a strategic target market that they are serving on their own from now. In operative business they cooperate with Turkish partners, mainly with the logistics company Ulusal Antrepo. The service range covers land transport, air and sea freight, short sea shipping, container trucking, storage and logistic value added services such as customs clearance, supply chain management and logistic consulting. With its partners KLG Lojistik has access to an area-covering transport network in Turkey and operates logistics centres in Greater Istanbul at four locations on the European and Asian side with about 40,000 m² storage area. Warehouses and transport are suitable for ADR. „Our strategy for Europe is to cooperate with strong medium-sized forwarding partners in most countries“, explains Stef Derks, Spokesman of KLG Europe. In strategically important countries like Great Britain or Romania they have locations and subsidiaries. In Romania alone KLG Europe has invested EUR 25 million in the past two years. „In Romania more and more goods are arriving from the Far East. They are destined for the big consumer markets in Southeastern Europe and the Black Sea region“, Derks knows from experience. He expects a similar development in Turkey, as a bridge between Europe and the Near East/Central Asia. Thus KLG wants to invest largely in Turkey following a start-up stage. KLG Europe employs around 600 persons at eleven locations in five countries (Netherlands, Great Britain, Romania, Turkey, China). Based on terminals with 125,000 m² warehouse and throughput area the private enterprise handles around 648,000 consignments in the current year, which shall account for a total turnover of EUR 85 million.
