Lufthansa Cargo achieved significant growth in 2010

2010 brought a new record revenue on cargo tonne-kilometres (FTKT) for Lufthansa Cargo AG

 

Lufthansa Cargo AG returned excellent figures in the 2010 business year. Revenue cargo tonne-kilometres (FTKT) rose to a record of 8.9 billion FTKT (up 19.9 per cent). The volume of air cargo and air mail transported climbed by 18.2 per cent to 1.79 million tons. Capacity utilisation of the aircrafts rose significantly (by 7.3 percentage points) to 70.9 per cent.

All traffic regions around the globe accounted for the cargo growth. The biggest growth came in the Americas, where tonnage soared by 24.9 per cent to 525,000 tons, followed by Asia/Pacific with a 20.6 per cent growth to 515,000 tons. In the traffic region Europe the forwarded volume amounted to 616.000 tons, 15.8 per cent above the last year’s figure.

Karl Ulrich Garnadt, Lufthansa Cargo’s new Chairman and CEO since the start of this year said: “After the 2009 crisis year, Lufthansa Cargo came back with outstanding results on the back of an impressive team performance. We are taking that momentum into 2011 in order to make the most of growth opportunities in the international airfreight industry."
