High flight of logistics group Damco

Forwarding and logistics division of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group registers strong demand for intercontinental services

The worldwide acting forwarding and logistics group Damco sees good signs for a successful business year 2010. In the period from January to June the enterprise generated a turnover of USD 1.3 billion exceeded the previous year’s figure by 36 per cent. The operating result amounted to USD 34 million. In the sea and air freight segments the group achieved volume increases of 20 and 40 per cent, respectively. The supply chain management division handled 15 per cent more volume compared to the previous year. Also the market shares showed a positive development, as CEO Rolf Habben-Jensen reports.

The Damco brand presents a forwarding and logistics division of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. The company based in Kopenhagen has around 10,500 employees at 270 locations around the globe. Last year they handled 545,000 TEU sea freight, around 60,000 tons of air freight and more than 50,000 cubic metres in the segment supply chain management.
