„Konnichiwa Tokyo“: First cargo flight from Linz to Japan

Express-Interfracht forwarding company carries out the first air cargo special transport from blue danube airport linz to Japan

It is a premiere for the freight division of the blue danube airport linz. For the first time a special transport to Tokyo is carried out at Austria’s biggest, regional cargo airport. Together with their Japanese partner Sankyu, Express-Interfracht Internationale Spedition GmbH organises the air-borne transport of a production facility for sera and vaccinations to Yokohama. The Bioreactor + Purification facility of the manufacturer Vogelbusch Biopharma (Vienna) has a total weight of 57 tons. The facility will be transported in 46 transport boxes from Austria to Yokohama; 13 of them will be flown from Linz to Tokyo.

Due to the size of the transport boxes and the total weight of 32 tons the forwarding company has chartered the world’s biggest air craft that is mass-produced – Antonov AN-124. The freight aircraft has landed in Linz yesterday. “The machine is scheduled to start its journey to the Far East on 14 September at 11 o’clock“, Horst Gimpl, Manager air freight Linz of Spedition Express-Interfracht, says about the schedule.

“For us this transport is something special as well. On the one hand it is the first time we are handling a freight flight to Japan, on the other hand we are not every day handling a An-124, which is a motivation“, says Dietmar Schram, Manager of the freight division at the airport Linz.
