Metrans Danubia reaches beyond the borders of Slovakia

Container terminals of Metrans Danubiá a.s. in Dunajská Streda and Kosice aiming for further growth

The Metrans Danubia a.s. is launching a program to consolidate the position of its container terminals at the locations in Dunajská Streda and Kosice as hubs for sea freight shipments with points of origin or departure in the neighbouring countries of Slovakia. At an event of the Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V. (HHM) Chief Executive Officer Peter Kiss has recently confirmed the interest of the company in expanding its business relations with forwarders, shipping agencies and container operators in eastern Austria, Hungary, Ukraine and Romania.

According to Metrans Danubia the location in Dunajská Streda, southern Slovakia, meets all requirements for serving senders and recipients of goods in parts of Burgenland and Lower Austria, as well as Greater Vienna. Also western Hungary can be reached well from this hub. The container terminal in Kosice is well located for goods transportations from/to Ukraine, eastern Hungary and western Romania.

In 2011 more than 300,000 TEU passed the container terminal in Dunajská Streda. The location in Kosice handles smaller volumes and will be expanded to a total area of 65,000 m² before the middle of this year. Issue N° 4/2012 of the paper LogEASTics will feature a detailed report on Metrans Danubia.
