Metrans opens new hub terminal for containers in Ceska Trebova

Metrans rail terminal in Ceska Trebova to serve as container hub for parts of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria
 
In the presence of numerous domestic and foreign guests rail operator Metrans opened their new rail terminal in Ceska Trebova (about 180 kilometres east of Prague) on 4 May. The facility built with a total investment of EUR 19.2 million will serve as a hub terminal in the hinterland for rail transportation from the northern and western ports in Europe to parts of the Czech Republic, eastern Slovakia, eastern Austria, Hungary and return. Jiri Samek, managing director of Metrans referred to the new building as a milestone in the company history, of which HHLA AG in Hamburg is holding 86.5 per cent.
 
The hub terminal of Metrans in Ceska Trebova has six tracks, each 630 metres long, and three gantry cranes of 90 metres width. The facility is designed to handle 150 block trains per week. Storage capacity at the container depot is indicated with 4,500 TEU. The terminal has an option for expansion in the coming years.
