Moderate decline in consignment volumes with CargoLine

General cargo cooperative CargoLine: Growth of premium products and international consignments

In the financial year 2009 the general cargo cooperative CargoLine registered a decline in their consignments volume and turnover for the first time in their 17-years history. The volumes (pure outgoing) fell due to market conditions from 10.3 million last year to 9.8 million consignments (down 4.9 per cent). The turnover generated by 6,181 employees decreased by 9.3 per cent to EUR 1.2 billion.

“The consignment level of 2009 declined to the 2007-level. But regarding international services we have won 4.8 per cent to 2.2 million consignments. Moreover we were able to register increases for premium products like NightLineEurope NextDay. This shows that there is a market for high-quality and customer-oriented products in economically difficult times as well", CargoLine CEO Jörn Peter Struck analyses the past business year.

The first three months of the business year 2010 have passed quite positive in spite of the generally difficult market environment. The management is proud of their new major customer from the trading industry. Moreover their cooperation with M&M Militzer & Münch, which had been started in October 2009, handling consignments from and to Eastern Europe, the CIS, Maghreb as well as the Near and Middle East is now starting to bear fruit.

CargoLine GmbH based in Dietzenbach is a cooperative for standardised and systematic general cargo transportations in Germany and Europe. The network in Germany, which is formed by 45 medium-sized system partners, is complete with strong international partners (e.g.: G, Englmayer and Jöbstl in Austria, Raben Logistics in Slovakia and Mory Team in France). In addition to system-controlled transport services national and international procurement, distribution, and warehousing logistics are the core areas of the activities.
