More sustainability with Eurocopter and SDV Geis

Eurocopter and SDV Geis put on the road their first hybrid shuttle in Germany connecting Donauworth and Munich airport

Eurocopter Germany and its logistics provider SDV Geis celebrate the inauguration of their first hybrid shuttle in Germany. The truck is connecting the Eurocopter plant in Donauworth with Munich airport. The partners expect a 15 per cent reduction in consumption and CO2-emissions compared to a conventional vehicle. SDV Geis is a joint venture of the French SDV and the German Geis groups, and is the most important transport and logistics partner of Eurocopter Germany.

The new truck is a Mercedes-Benz Atego BlueTec Hybrid. The shuttle between the Eurocopter plant in Donauwoerth and the hub airport of Munich shall carry all export- and import flows managed by SDV Geis on behalf of Eurocopter Germany, driving nearly 60.000 km per year. The transportations will be controlled from the Munich branch of SDV Geis. The Hybrid truck is owned by the Hartinger forwarding company, operating the vehicle exclusively for SDV Geis and Eurocopter. "Feel the change" – the slogan displayed on the vehicle reflects the environmental commitment of both companies, which has been undertaken since the last Paris Air Show with the signing of the charter Save Program.

The Eurocopter group was created in 1992 as a German-French-Spanish merger. The group is now a subsidiary owned 100% by EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company). In 2012 their 22,000 employees generated turnover of EUR 6.3 billion. A total of 469 new units have been ordered at the manufacturer of helicopters of the civil and military range last year.
