M+R Spedag: 20 years of textile logistics centre in Gunzgen

Textile-Distribution-Center Gunzgen and membership of Fashionet made M+R Spedag top provider of textile logistics in Switzerland:

The globally operating M+R Spedag Group celebrated the 20th anniversary of their Textile-Distribution-Center in Gunzgen, Swiss canton Solothurn, a few days ago. The textile logistics centre is specialising in serving customers from the fashion industry. In 1991, the location opened it’s doors and was expanded in 2007 to a total of 20,000 m² of handling and storage area for hanging and flat packed garments. This made an important contribution to the rise of the enterprise to a leading supplier of textile logistics in Switzerland.

More than 40 years ago, when the fashion boom originated in London’s Carnaby Street, the M+R Metzger + Richner forwarding company launched its first textile transport services from England to Switzerland. During the next decades the niche of textile services was gradually extended. The expansion to Asia in the mid 1980s was initially based on the strategy of offering Swiss clients logistics services for their entire supply chain, all the way from the new textile manufacturing centres in Asia. In 1990, M+R Spedag was one of the driving forces in the forming of Fashionet, the European Logistics Network of Textile Experts.
