National combined transport still uncertain

Planed increase in prices for national combined transport is not off the table yet

The price increase of 10 per cent for tariffs of national, unaccompanied combined transport that Rail Cargo Austria AG has planned to become effective with 1 March 2010 is still there. Though maybe a solution can be found to secure cargo transport on the rail (around 540,000 of 20 ft containers per year).

In a debate last week at the Ministry of Transport their general secretary, the Executive Management of Rail Cargo Austria AG and a representative of CombiNet – a network for combined transport –discussed different points of view. The parties agreed to rethink their positions and search for solutions to maintain the economical friendly rail transport. “However Rail Cargo Austria has not yet abandoned the new tarif increase they had announced“, the CombiNet association regrets.
