Highly profitable year 2011 for DP World Group

Uptrend in global container transport incites DP World Group to enlarge its capacities in Jebel Ali (Dubai)

Expanding and rebuilding its facilities, the DP World Group responds to the globally increasing demand for modern port terminals for the throughput of container shipments. Last year expansions were completed in Dakar (Senegal) and Karachi (Pakistan), and a new container terminal was opened in Vallarpadam (India). In 2012 the facility at the “home base“ in Jebel Ali (Dubai) will be enlarged by around 1 million TEU.

Moreover a new container terminal with an annual capacity of 4 million TEU is being built in Jebel Ali until 2014, as the DP World management announced at the presentation of the 2011 annual report.

In 2011 the DP World Group handled about 55 million TEU at 60 container terminals around the globe. The group’s annual turnover amounted to USD 2.98 billion; EBITDA was USD 1.3 billion. In total the 2011 balance shows an annual surplus of USD 751 million.
