Turkish logistics group Ekol has ambitious plans for Europe

Ekol striving to become a European brand of transport and logistics; new member Frank Körber to establish European headquarters in Cologne
 
Reinforcing its management board Turkish transport and logistics group Ekol conffirms its claim for a market positioning as a leading European logistics provider. Thus they appointed Frank Körber the new Vice President International. The new manager heads the new European headquarters in Cologne, as the enterprise informs in a press release. The global group office will remain in Istanbul and so will the local branches in the individual markets.
 
Until the end of 2012 Frank Körber has been working for Carrefour, Europe’s biggest retail enterprise. Before, he had been working for fifteen years at Düsseldorf-based retail group Metro, in charge of the logistics division MGL Metro Group Logistics and the subsidiary “real”, among others.
 
In Germany Ekol aims at sales revenues of about EUR 25 million in 2013. Staff shall be increased from currently 172 to 200 employees on the long term. Planned investments are budgeted with EUR 7 million. The group’s aim is to use Germany as a hub to easily reach European destinations. At the same time Ekol wants to establish as important player for transport between Germany and Turkey. The branch established in 1996 in Germany is mainly serving customers from the automotive, chemicals and healthcare industry.
 
In 2012 Ekol Logistics has invested EUR 10 million in five countries, becoming the fastest growing Turkish logistics provider in Europe. They purchased a company in Romanai and opened a branch in Italy. In addition Ekol offices in Bosnia-Herzegovina, France, Greece and Ukraine started operation. The group has currently a staff of about 1,200 persons in seven countries in Europe.
