New airfreight service with Cargolux Airlines

Manaus (Brazil) and Chongqing (China) are integrated into Cargolux Airlines’ network since mid-May

Cargolux Airlines International S.A. recently expanded its worldwide network by adding two destinations. Since 19 May 2012 the airline based in Luxembourg calls the destination Manaus in Brazil. The liner service departs from Luxembourg and calls São Paulo, Manaus, Quito and Bogota, before flying back to Luxembourg via Maastricht. Manaus is the capital of the federal state of Amazonas and its Eduardo Gomes International Airport is Brazil’s third largest cargo airport in terms of freight movements (mainly electronic and consumer goods). Brazil has been served by Cargolux since 1997.

From mid-May 2012 Cargolux Airlines covers also Chongqing, China, with twice weekly scheduled flights. The first service from Luxembourg via Doha and Sharjah to Chongqing’s Jianbai International Airport is completed by the return flight return to Luxembourg via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Baku. The second weekly service is routed via Tbilisi, Baku, Singapore and Chongqing. The return flight to Luxembourg goes via Baku.

‘In adding Chongqing to our portfolio of global destinations, we are extending our dense coverage of the most important Asian destinations. We see a lot of potential in Chongqing, not least because of the planned expansion of the airport’s cargo facilities to accommodate the region’s burgeoning export market,’ said Frank Reimen, Cargolux President and CEO.
