Logwin group: Double jubilee in Asia

40 years after opening of the location in Hong Kong Logwin’s network in Asia comprises almost 60 locations

These days the Logwin group is looking back on 40 years of activities in Asia. They entered the Far East market by the end of May 1972 through establishing a location in Hong Kong. Exactly 20 years ago the enterprise opened its first locations in China: in Dalian and Shanghai.

A major customer from the textile industry was the determining reason for the setup of an own location in Hong Kong. “Textiles remained the most important sector in Asia in the first few years,” says Tomas Sonntag, Managing Director for Region Far East Asia at Logwin’s business segment Air + Ocean. Today the company has a broad base, transporting heavy machinery as naturally as automotive components, smartphones and garments.

Logwin has been steadily growing in Asia over the last 40 years. Today the enterprise has more than 1,000 employees and operates almost 60 locations in eleven countries (Hong Kong, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam). In China the logistics service provider today employs 450 people in over 20 locations and is by its own account one of the leading medium-sized logistics specialists in the country. There are plans to expand the existing network there with nine additional offices by 2015. Logwin is also planning to open new locations in other Asian countries, too.
