New manual illuminates Danube navigation in Hungary

Manual on Danube Navigation now also available in Hungarian; it contains specific information on river shipping in Hungary

On December 11, the Hungarian edition of the Manual on Danube Navigation was presented in Budapest. The Hungarian National Association of Radio Distress-Signalling and Infocommunications (RSOE) published it in the framework of produna.

The Hungarian edition is called A Dunai Hajózás Kézikönyve and is based on the third edition of via donau’s Manual on Danube Navigation. The general chapters have been professionally translated to Hungarian; information pertaining to Hungary has been added. Among the country-specific chapters one finds information on ports, fleet, legal framework or national responsibilities.

These sections have been developed in a cooperation effort between RSOE and national Hungarian experts. 1.000 copies have been printed and are now being distributed by RSOE to schools, the navigation and transport sector and on political level. A digital version of the publication is available online at dhk.rsoe.hu.

About 90 people attended the presentation of the Hungarian Manual on Danube Navigation in Budapest. Representatives of the Ministry of transport, the Danube Commission, via donau and the Hungarian Inland Navigation sector emphasised on the importance of this work as an important step towards increased visibility of Danube Navigation in Hungary.
