New sales office of Transpetrol in Belgrade

Rail logistics enterprise Transpetrol continues internationalisation and expansion of its service portfolio

Rooted in rail logistics, Transpetrol GmbH reinforces its market appearance on the Balkans. Since 1 September 2010 the company of the rail logistics division of VTG Aktiengesellschaft (Hamburg) operates a representative office in Belgrade. The sales office in Serbia will focus on regional market development including countries bordering Balkans.

„Serbia is located on the rail freight transport corridor between Western Europe and Turkey and is thus an important transit country for rail services. The own representative office in Belgrade enables Transpetrol to cooperate directly with the specific local railways and thus provide transport services also within the Balkan countries. Moreover, Serbia and the bordering Balkan countries with their expanding industrial production offer growth potential for rail freight transport and thus also for our company”, the Transpetrol management writes in a press release.

“With the expansion of our international presence, we are responding to the growing traffic volumes of customers in Europe, particularly towards Eastern and South-Eastern Europe,” explains Gert Sieksmeyer, managing director of Transpetrol. “ According to him wagon provision is possible mainly from the resources of the parent company VTG Aktiengesellschaft and its wagon hire segment, already present in this region.

Transpetrol GmbH provides rail logistics services throughout Europe, particularly for dangerous goods (mineral oil, chemical products and liquefied gas) in block trains and individual wagons/groups of wagons. It also organises rail freight services for many other sectors.
