New Schäflein Logistics site for intelligent storage of hazardous goods

Schäflein Logistics has opened its first warehouse for the „extended obligations according to the accidents ordinance“ in the Schweinfurt region

In Röthlein near Schweinfurt Schäflein Logistics GmbH has built one of the largest and most modern logistics centers for hazardous substances in northern Bavaria. On 8,000 m² substances that can be toxic, flammable, corrosive or otherwise hazardous can be stored in the facility now.

These are, for example, gasoline, lubricants, plant protection agents, acids or substances which have a very low flash point or extremely flammable. This multi-user hazardous substances hall allows many companies to store hazardous materials in the immediate vicinity of the Schäflein forwarding company for a fast throughput.

Due to water protection reasons the entire building is constructed as a drip pan and includes a foam extinguisher for flammable liquids. This concept is designed for boxes from 100 ml to 1,000 liters. In addition, a gas alarm system connected to a ventilation system prevents the formation of explosive gas concentrations. A dedicated poison room with a slot capacity of 250 pallets completes the safety concept at a high level.

The many features of the object include also a computerized security concept. It is controlled by a software, which hazardous materials can be stored with others and which must not be stored together and what protective systems has to be applied respectively.

In addition, Schäflein Logistics supplies the fire brigade with hardware and software, which can show in real time all the stored substances, grouped by UN numbers and location in the hall. If there is a fire in a storage area or a hazardous substance (liquid, gas) is released, the firefighters can see exactly which tools, extinguishing agents and protective clothing are necessary in each case.
