New shipping service links Antwerp to Libya

Tarros group extends liner service of Maersk’s Seago Line from the Belgian seaport of Antwerp to Libya

The Italian shipping company Tarros has recently introduced a service between northern Europe and the Mediterranean region. This shall facilitate shipping containers from Antwerp to Tripoli and Misrata, Libya. The average transit time from Antwerp via Malta to Libya is about 21 days.

Until recently the Tarros operations were confined exclusively to the Mediterranean, but now it has added a connection to northern Europe. Instead of using its own vessels for this segment, the Italian company books capacity on a line to the Mediterranean Sea, operated by the Maersk subsidiary Seago Line. The latter service calls at Marsaxlokk in Malta, from where consignments can be carried onward on Tarros vessels to Tripoli and Misrata. In addition to this service to Malta, Tarros offers container capacity for its northern European customers on the Seago Line to Istanbul, Izmit, Gebze, Gemlik and Izmir in Turkey. Eimskip Belgium acts as the agent for Tarros in Antwerp.

The traditional, family-managed group of companies Tarros, carries containerized, but also conventional goods across the Mediterranean Sea. The group deploys container vessels ranging from 400 to 1.200 TEU capacity. Their container fleet consists of over 25.000 units and they operate a multipurpose terminal in La Spezia, Terminal del Golfo. With over 200 employees in their home port La Spezia, they achieved annual turnover of about EUR 90 million.
