New Transco group location in Eastern Europe

Gdansk location of the Transco group puts focus on transit traffic from Germany to Russia, Byelorussia and Ukraine

The medium-sized logistics enterprise Transo Süd Internationale Transporte with its headquarters in Konstanz (Germany) boosts its activities in Eastern Europe. The Polish national company based in Poznan has opened a location in Gdansk on 15 February. The new location is initially serving regional customers and serves as a hub for the handling of full and less than full truck loads between Germany and Byelorussia, Ukraine and Russia. On the medium term the location in Gdañsk shall be expanded into a location for short-sea-shipping business.

The establishment of the location in Gdañsk is part of the strategic expansion in Eastern Europe of the medium-sized logistics enterprise. In May 2010 Transco East GmbH with its headquarters in Lübeck started operation. At the start of the year 2011 Transco Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH followed. Both companies mainly organise traffic to Eastern Europe.

The Transco group has around 460 employees at 23 locations, 15 of them abroad. The group has 65,000 m² logistics area, 500 own trailers and swap bodies as well as 60 own trucks (all of them according to Euro-5 standard). The main part of the transport is handled by sub freighters. For 2010 the group expects a consolidated group turnover of EUR 82 million.
