DHL delivers in-flight amenities for Singapore Airlines; enhances Import Express Worldwide service; rolls out Hasbro’s ‘Autobots‘ in South China.

DHL Global Forwarding Singapore has been appointed to manage global transportation of all in-flight amenities from Singapore Airlines – mainly through its distribution hubs in China, Germany and Singapore – to all of its network destinations and offices in the world.

The contract covers both ocean freight and air freight services.

As part of the contract, DHL will also provide all inland transportation services to Singapore Airlines‘ China and Germany hubs through its Supply Chain unit.

The operations began in January at Singapore Airlines‘ hub in Singapore, and are expected to rollout in China in April and Germany in May.

DHL Express customers can now manage their import shipments online more simply and securely via DHL’s upgraded Import Express Online booking tool.

DHL’s Import Express Online is a web-based tool that allows customers to simplify the way they manage their imports by reducing paperwork and improving communications between origin and destination. With no software to install and no sign-up fee, customers need only a computer, Internet access and a DHL Import Express account number to begin managing their import shipments.

The benefits of Import Express Online include a simple and user-friendly navigation system, accurate transit time and rate quote calculations, piece-level shipment preparation and tracking visibility. Importers can attach documents to the shipment instructions and provide shippers at origin with standing authorisations.

The improved online booking tool expands the benefits available to customers importing with DHL IMPORT EXPRESS WORLDWIDE, DHL’s business-to-business and door-to-door inbound delivery service for documents and packages from almost anywhere in the world. Time-sensitive delivery options that promise pre-09h00 or pre-12h00 delivery times for inbound shipments are also available.

DHL has rolled out two TRANSFORMERS-themed trucks to transport Hasbro products in the Pearl River Delta Region and to promote the upcoming Transformers movie sequel.

Unveiled recently at DHL’s South China Campus facilities in Yantian, Shenzhen, the two 45-ft giants were jointly created by DHL and toy manufacturer, Hasbro.

The two DHL TRANSFORMERS trucks have been deployed as part of DHL’s operations for Hasbro in southern China.

DHL provides pick-up services directly from Hasbro’s manufacturing sites. The two trucks will shuttle products between DHL’s Yantian facilities and Hasbro sites in different locations across the Pearl River Delta Region in South China throughout 2011.

Currently, DHL manages the trucking and buyer’s consolidation for Hasbro shipments through its logistics network in Yantian. Spanning more than one million square feet, the logistics facilities offer cross-docking services in addition to a wide range of other value-added services.

Hasbro has also partnered with Yantian International Container Terminals in co-branding two rail freight locomotives with the TRANSFORMERS theme.
