Nippon Express takes over US forwarding company AGS

Acquisition of AGS Associated Global Systems consolidates position of Nippon Express in North America’s forwarding market
 
Taking over AGS Associated Global Systems Inc. the Japanese transport and logistics group Nippon Express enters new market segments in North America. The newly acquired company provides services in the segments national/international forwarding and warehousing. Nippon Express has so far focused on air and ocean cargo forwarding to/from the US.
 
The new owner refers to AGS Associated Global Systems as a mid-sized logistics company. The enterprise established in 1958, headquartered in New Hyde Park (New York) has 282 employees at several stations across the US. Forwarding of precision instruments and oversized cargo is the company’s core business. Last financial year’s turnover amounted to USD 134 million.
 
Nippon Express based in Tokyo operates a network with 16,300 employees at 389 stations in 37 countries. Their presence on the European continent includes also a location at the Vienna International Airport.
