Old Dominion opens new service centre in Wisconsin

Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has opened its newest service centre in Madison, Wisconsin (US), after experiencing sustained growth in the region.

The move, part of a $100-120m investment that Old Dominion is committing to expansion projects in 2011, will bolster the company’s existing presence in Wisconsin, where the trucking industry hauls nearly 90% of the state’s manufactured tonnage every year. In addition, the new location will enhance Old Dominion’s four existing service centres in Wisconsin and national network of 214 service centres.

"Over the past few years, we have seen considerable growth in the Madison market thanks to the city’s proximity to key manufacturing areas in the Midwest," said Michael Quillman, service centre manager at the Old Dominion Madison service centre. "The addition of a new service centre allows us to now provide direct service to customers in the city and enhance service offerings to our network of customers in the Midwest."

Old Dominion purchased and renovated the 24-door facility, located in Madison. The facility will open with 16 employees to provide service to more than 30 cities which includes more than a 50 mile radius surrounding Madison.
