Optimised Portugal and Spain services with OPDR

Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei (OPDR) offers enhanced services from Northern Europe to Portugal and Spain from 7 March

Effective 7 March 2012 the short sea shipping and logistics provider OPDR will improves its offer on the trades linking Portugal, the Canary Islands and the Spanish mainland to Northern Europe. The launch of the PANG (Portugal, Andalusia & Galicia) and CISS services (Canary Island & South Spain) will provide higher frequency and reduced transit times.

"We are happy to support our customers‘ increased need for short sea shipping and logistics solutions to and from the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands and Northern Europe", says Simon Uhrlau, Director Line Management at OPDR. "Further, this enhancement goes hand in hand with our continuous efforts to provide customer driven, economical and environmentally-friendly alternatives to road transport."

The PANG service includes two weekly sailings from Rotterdam to Portugal and vice versa as well as two weekly sailings from Portugal to the United Kingdom. Additionally, the PANG service offers two weekly sailings from the Galician Ports of Vigo and A Coruña to Rotterdam and Antwerp and a fast connection from Galicia to the United Kingdom, as well as direct connection between Antwerp and Seville.

The CISS service now includes weekly sailings to Arrecife via Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The ports of Melilla, Gibraltar and Tangier are directly called every two weeks. Both, the PANG and the CISS service have additional reefer capacities. OPDR will operate the two loops with five own vessels of each 700 TEU.
