Orentrans ZAO integrated into Swiss InterRail group

InterRail group acquired majority stake in Orentrans ZAO to reinforce commitment as wagon operator

The Swiss InterRail group acquired the majority stake in the wagon owner Orentrans ZAO, Orenburg, in April. The company owns currently 120 tank wagons and rents 170 on the long term.

„We entered the circle of wagon fleet operators one year ago with the acquisition of UralRail Moscow, and have been very successful since then. UralRail has 163 open wagons, which allowed us to close gaps where there was a lack of wagons, or where private providers were not able to offer the equipment we needed. The majority stake in Orentrans expands our offering and permits us to respond more flexible to the market“, says Yuri Kulakin, managing director of RailService Moskau, a company of InterRail.

In addition to their own wagon fleet the InterRail group has made long-term leasing agreements for open and covered cargo wagons, special and platform wagon. In line with seasonal fluctuations and the market situation, the company has about 1,500 to 2,000 cargo wagons in total, which are controlled and marketed by the group.

The InterRail group with headquarters in St. Gallen, Switzerland is a leading European service provider for rail-based logistics. Their product portfolio covers brokerage of rail transport services as well as multimodal transport in the CIS, Iran, Central Asia, China and Europe. The corporation includes among others the companies InterRail Services GmbH (IRS) Berlin, known as the operator of the “Ostwind“/“Westwind“ container block trains between Germany and the CIS.
