Pall-Ex in search for Bulgarian partner

By searching for a partner in Bulgaria, the continental expansion of European palletised freight specialist Palle-Ex comes to the next phase

Pall-Ex, the European palletised freight specialist, has begun the next stage of its continental expansion, by starting its search for a partner in Bulgaria. The group is looking to enter a venture with a logistics provider in the country to serve the Balkan region, expanding its operation further into the continent as part of its aim to form a Pan-European pallet network. The Principal National Partner (PNP) will run the Bulgarian network under Pall-Ex’s established franchise-style model.

Pall-Ex’s model requires its hub to be located in the centre of the country near to the major arterial road infrastructure. The company believes that this will allow it to attract a strong membership of hauliers as well as service the entire territory efficiently. “There are five established Pan-European transport corridors that run through Bulgaria,” explains project director Anand Assi, who is overseeing the European expansion. “The country’s diverse logistics sector, and its ongoing development in infrastructure, creates an ideal opportunity for a logistics provider to take our model to the next stage of growth.”

By introducing the proven concept of the palletised freight network to Bulgaria, Pall-Ex is offering a logistics provider the prospect of being an industry pioneer. With approximately 70 per cent of goods currently being transported by road in Bulgaria, the new network will be at the centre of a logistical marketplace to offer an efficient and economical method of haulage.

The partner will have the opportunity to leverage and build on the group’s extensive knowledge in logistics, to offer new distribution services under the Pall-Ex brand and to use the bespoke IT system, TWINE. The company’s Hub and Spoke’ model involves each member collecting freight from customers and delivering it to a centrally located hub. It is then sorted and loaded onto the vehicle of the network member responsible for the destination zone. This allows customers to send consignments ranging from single pallets to part trailer loads overnight. By sharing trailers with other freight bound for the same destination, overall haulage costs and the environmental impact are both significantly reduced.

The new network will have the opportunity to join Pall-Ex Italia, Pall-Ex Iberia, Pall-Ex France, Pall-Ex Romania and Pall-Ex Polska and be part of a Pan-European expansion.
