Panopa marks a milestone in Central and Eastern Europe
75.000 m² warehouse: Panopa’s centre for logistics optimisation in Györ assumes extensive services for its customer Audi Motor Hungaria
Establishing a new centre for logistics optimisation in Györ, western Hungary, Panopa, specialist for contract logistics, underlines its competence as service provider for the automotive industry. In the new building Panopa Logistik Magyar Kft. will provide extensive transport and logistics services for Audi Hungaria. In the presence of about 100 invited guests from politics and industry the facility was inaugurated by Rüdiger Buß, CEO Panopa Logistik GmbH, Axel Schifferer, CFO Audi Hungaria Motor Kft., and Károly Tallósi, managing director A-K Építőipari Kft., on October 21.
In the centre for logistics optimisation Panopa manages a more than 75,000 m² warehouse and provides picking, handling of empties and shuttle services on behalf of automobile manufacturers. From there, the components are delivered precisely timed to the car plant seven kilometers away, where Audi manufactures the A3 sedan completely in series since this summer. A total of 125,000 vehicles shall roll off the production line in Gyor in the future. „This order and the inauguration of the center for logistics optimisation is another important milestone for the development of Panopa in Eastern Europe“, Rüdiger Buss said during the opening ceremony.
The Panopa Group has become active at a total of eight locations in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary, and has become an important employer in the three countries. The number of employees in the center in Györ is expected to increase to more than 280 people by the time the automobile factory starts full operation in February 2014. According to Rémy Hoeffler, Head Eastern Europe Panopa Group, several thousand large and small load carriers will be moved per day in the logistics park.
Panopa Logistik GmbH is headquartered in Duisburg and offers customer-oriented logistics services along the supply chain. The services range from procurement logistics and warehouse management to sequencing, preassembly, production supply and spare parts logistics, as well as organisation of transports and management of company car fleets. The contract logistics provider is specialising in the segments automotive, steel, machine and plant engineering as well as the consumer goods industry.
