Partial opening of river port in Wittenberge

Anleger 1 at ElbePort Wittenberge starts handling liquid goods

Loading the first tank vessel on behalf of the Bio-Diesel Wittenberge-company at the terminal Anleger 1, the partial opening of the new river port in Wittenberge was celebrated recently. Hence business operation starts even before the whole project is completed. The Anleger 1 terminal is designed for the throughput of liquid goods and presents the first stage of the construction plan. A second one for the throughput of containers, project shipments, bulk and general cargo is to be built up in the second half of the year 2010.

The particular opportunity for Wittenberge is the ideal geographical location between the two metropolises Hamburg and Berlin. Moreover, Wittenberge is situated just at the junction of road, rail and waterway, which allows to expand it into a trimodal throughput hub for the future. Another plus for Wittenberge are the surrounding areas available for the establishment of production sites or enterprises.
